WHAT RESOURCES DO WE HOLD ?

  • PHOTOGRAPHS:
    A collection of over 3000 photographs of Traralgon and its surrounding districts - including Glengarry, Gormandale, Toongabbie, Tyers, Willung and other smaller places. These are on a searchable database.
  • BOOKS:
    Local histories, family histories, scrapbooks, diaries and general historical subjects about this area of Gippsland.
  • COLLECTIONS:
    Manuscripts, letters, minute books, account books, photo albums, ephemera, etc. pertaining to families, district organisations, clubs and societies.
  • PERIODICALS:
    Mainly Historical Society newsletters and bulletins.
  • MAPS: A large collection, not all catalogued yet, of Parish plans, Subdivision plans, Shire maps, early pastoral settlement maps, Town plans, early tracks.
  • VERTICAL FILE:
    An extensive collection of documents, newspaper cuttings, booklets, ephemera, etc., indexed by family names, districts, property names and subject.

If you cannot visit us, we will do research for you. There is a charge of AU$10.00 per hour, (with a minimum charge of $5.00) plus photocopying and postage charges. The Society has excellent E.D.P. facilities for research, scanning, and archiving on CD-ROM.
